Hotscots - 18 January 2014 (Away)
Terriers recorded their first win of the season against HotScots with the winner being delivered with virtually the final kick of the game.
Following an even start, our momentum built with pacy breaks from the front three of Stuart A, Alex C and James C looking dangerous. It was fitting then that it should be one of these breaks that garnered the opening goal - Dom B lifted a perfectly weighted ball over the home team's defenders for Stuart to run onto and lob the keeper from fully 30 yards.
The lead looked secure going into half-time, with hard work from the midfielders and forwards, and determined play from the defence keeping the hosts at bay. There was time for a moment of comedy (and possibly mild panic) though, as a young pitch invader intercepted the ball as James B and a HotScots forward ran to challenge for it. Fortunately the ref blew up for a drop ball before any damage could be done.
The second half started very differently though, with the home side very much on top and they soon equalised. Jonny B made a cracking save to give away a corner, which was bundled into the net, although the striker later admitted he'd fouled Conor S in doing so.
HotScots continued to make chances through the half, with one player hitting the underside of the crossbar at one point and another pulling a shot wide of the goal after finding himself in acres of space in the middle of the area.
Although our pace up front was still causing some problems, it looked like we'd be heading home with a point until the ball came out to Rick B on the left, he skipped past his man and found the bottom corner of the net to win the game and barely leave the hosts with time to kick off again.
The man of the match vote was almost unanimous, with Conor S picking up the prize again after an inspired performance against his former club in which he didn't lose a header.
