Hotscots - 14 September 2013 (Home)

It was a frustrating start to the season for the Terriers as we slipped to a 2-0 defeat at home to HotScots, where we did everything except score.

An early goal left us on the back foot, but aside from a few breaks, we looked comfortable and created a fair few chances ourselves. We had some excellent link up play between Leo C and the returning Jon F, which was all the more remarkable due to the fact that it was the first time they'd played together.

The second half was more of the same, with a HotScots goal and Terriers creating numerous chances. You could tell it wasn't going to be our day when a Carl N hit freekick straight through the keeper's hands, yet somehow it bounced over the bar. Matters got a bit feisty later on, as they're prone to do in this fixture, but the goals our chances deserved weren't forthcoming.

Fortunately, we have got the opportunity to bounce right back against Saltire in Glasgow next weekend. The match will be the first time the teams have met in a competitive game, with just one friendly game played previously. Terriers won that one, but since then Saltire have won Division 2 and beaten Leicester in their first match of the season, so it should be a keenly contested affair.

From The Team Bus
Matt Nellist, Yorkshire Terriers team manager said, "I was happy with the performance and thought we deserved something from the game. I'm very proud of my players and great credit must go to Jim for an outstanding performance. It has to be his best in a Terriers shirt."
